The day: 2010 Debut Author Week: Anastasia Hopcus!

Day four on 2010 DEBUT AUTHOR WEEK and we're still pumping! Today, I have Anastasia Hopcus, author of the amazing up-coming Shadow Hills, to asnwer our interview questions! Yay! Shadow Hills comes out July 13th.

Summary: After her sister Athena's tragic death, it's obvious that grief-stricken Persephone "Phe" Archer no longer belongs in Los Angeles. Hoping to make sense of her sister's sudden demise and the cryptic dreams following it, Phe abandones her bubbly LAA life to attend an uptight East Coast preparatory school in Shadow Hills, MA -- a school which her sister mysteriously mentioned i her lasy diary entry before she died.

Over there, Phe quickly realizes that something is deeply amiss in her nw down. Not only does Shadow Hills' history boast an unexplained epidemic that decimated hundreds of it's citizens in the 1700s, but its modren townies also seem eerily psychic, with the bizarre ability to bend metal. Even Zach -- the gorgeous stranger Phe meets and immediately begins to lust after -- seems as if he is hiding something serious. Phe is determined to get to the bottom of it. The longer she stays there, the more she suspects that her sister's untimely death and her own destiny are intricately lined to those who reside in Shadow Hills

If you had to live in a house with 3 fictional YA character, who would they be?

Lena from Beautiful Creatures because she's strong and interesting; Simon from the Mortal Instruments because he's a great friend; Jamie from The Demon's Lexicon because he always has something witty to say.

What do you want to accomplish 10 years from now?

In ten years, I'd like to still be writing books that people enjoy reading. I'd also love to own some land in the area of Massachusetts where Shadow Hills is set.

If you could say something to your younger writing self, what would you say?

I'd tell myself to be patient and persistent. Nothing happens as fast as you want it to, but you can get published.
